Passed away peacefully, after a brief struggle with cancer, on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Beloved father of Bryan. Ed will be deeply missed by his sisters and brother; Marina Howlett, Eileen Brown (Garry), Nancy d’Agincourt, Faye Corbett (Don), Doug Smith (Bev) and Joan Burdette (Glenn). Loved forever by his nephews and nieces; Ken Howlett (Vicky), Mark Howlett (Cindy), Patti Klein (Rob), Julie Townsend (John), Richard Corbett (Natasha), Kim Corbett (Colin), Melissa Martin (Nathan), Jon Smith (Tiffany), Courtney Burdette (David). Special great-uncle to Wade, Natalie, Brooklyn, Charlie, Ava, Charlotte, William, Aidan, and Jack. Predeceased by his parents, John R. and Dorothy Smith. Ed was born on August 23, 1957 and spent his entire life in Hillsburgh, Erin, Belwood and the neighbouring communities. He lived for many years at Maple Leaf Acres in Belwood. He was a licensed diesel mechanic who shared his expertise with small business and individual customers in the Erin community.

Visitation will be held at the MacIntyre Family Funeral Home, 5399 Wellington Road 52, Erin, Ontario on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 2- 4 p.m. Capacity is limited. Due to COVID restrictions, guest must call ahead to schedule an appointment time 519-833-2231.

A private service and interment will take place at Huxley Cemetery.

Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be in place.

The family would like to invite friends and relatives to attend an outdoor reception, to celebrate Ed’s life on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Erin Agricultural Society Hall (Erin Fairgrounds), 184 Main St, Erin. No need to RSVP for this event.
