Maud Emily (Dale) Toogood

Maud Emily Toogood, cherished Mom of Dale Toogood (Kelly St. Denis), Marty Toogood (Sue Terry) and Paul Toogood (Sarah Byers) passed from away from ALS on Thursday October 28, 2021. Maud was born November 16, 1943 in Northern Ireland.

Maud had 12 grandchildren, Jake, Megan, Elle, Connor, Aidan, Xzavier, Brooklyn, Keegan, Olivia, Delielah, Elijah and Rylann, whom she made feel special and appreciated. She took a keen interest in each of their lives.

Maud was pre-deceased by her parents William and Maud Dale as well as siblings Peggy, Lillian, Anna and Joe. She will be sadly missed by her sister Jean and brother Jim of Northern Ireland.

A loving and caring person, Maud started her nursing career at 17 in Northern Ireland, ending in Georgetown more than 40 years later. She was a very giving person who never expected anything but appreciated everything.

Maud was an avid reader and golfer who loved to follow tennis. She was as happy at home doing her puzzles and games as she was being with her family and friends or travelling to the next destination.

Our family is very grateful to all of Maud’s friends that visited, cared for and reached out during her illness. That little smile she got each time she read a message or saw a friendly face was priceless. Mum was extremely lucky with the great care she received from the nurses, doctors, care givers and others during this difficult time.

You were always there for us, listened to us, being strong but flexible and never afraid to tell us what we needed to hear. Your ability to have friends as family and family as friends was something special. We loved you and knew we were loved. Miss you always.

Arrangements entrusted to MacIntyre Funeral Home, 5399 Wellington Road 52, Erin, Ontario. Cremation to take place with a Celebration of Life to follow on Saturday November 13, 2021 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 442, 12 Dundas Street East, Erin from 12 p.m - 4 p.m.  Memorial donations, in memory of Maud, can be made to Bethell Hospice Foundation or you may send the family a condolence at www.macintyrefamilyfuneralhome.com
