On Friday, June 11, 2021, Lisette Carmella (Pelletier) Gilbey, 87, passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Lisette was born on February 2, 1934, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, to Ulric and Leda (Levesque) Pelletier. She met Joseph Gilbey while working for the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Schefferville, Quebec. They were married on October 10, 1959, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Edmundston and together raised four children, Clyde, Scott, Jacqueline, and Renée.
Lisette was inherently loving, sensitive, eager to learn, and filled with natural talent. She expressed her creativity in painting, photography, cooking, crochet, knitting, and crafting. She was fond of the outdoors and especially enjoyed wildflowers and the birds that frequented her perpetually stocked birdfeeder. Lisette was an ardent reader, quick to pass on any new and novel discoveries to her children. Caring for the family dogs also brought added joy to her life.
Lisette is survived by Joe Gilbey and their children with spouses Clyde and Kristine Gilbey, Scott and Michelle Gilbey, Jacqueline and Ken Hood and Renée Gilbey along with grandchildren Drew, Melisa, Belinda, Karla and Adam, and great grandchildren Ewa, Emilia, Jack and Eleanora. Lisette is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Yvette, Geraldine, Lorraine, and Roger. Following cremation, Lisette’s ashes will be retained (macintyrefamilyfuneralhome.com) until the family is able to travel and gather for a memorial and interment service later in 2021.
In lieu of flowers or other gifted expressions of condolence, donations to The Elliot Community (elliottcommunity.org) where Mom was so wonderfully cared for in her final difficult years would be appreciated.
