Mom, Nana, Gigi, passed away after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer at home in Erin, Ontario on June 9, 2020 in her 97th year.
Born and raised in Cooksville, Ontario, she lived in Brampton before relocating to the peaceful serenity of Erin with her family.
Nana was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Joe, her son Michael, sister Phyllis, brother Jim and her parents, Dr. Austin and Ida McFadden.
Devoted Mom to Patti (Blake). The two of them have been joined at the hip for such a very long time and the bond they shared as Mother & Daughter is enviable to say the least.
Loving Nana to Tracey (Kevin), Nicole (Tony), Brad (Melanie), Joe (Rita), Matthew (Samantha) and Brandon. Affectionately known as GiGi to 10 great grand children.
Beloved Aunt to Judy, Gerré and David (Sue), Sherry, Shellyand many extended nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by many of her dear friends, too many to list. She often wondered what she was still doing here on Earth when so many of them were gathered around the organ up above. Keeping her grounded, was her cherished friend Kathleen (Bill) Davis. The two of them were the real life Golden Girls. When the cocktail hours ended up at the Bay they continued having their afternoon libations and chit chats at home.
At this time the family would like to thank the Nurses and PSW’s who took care of Nana in her later years. We would like to say a very special thank you to Debbie who has been there for Nana as well as the entire family. She was cherished by Nana and continues to be cherished by us. We cannot thank her enough for all that she has done.
Plain and simple, Nan was loved by many and in the end, though her body was failing her, her heart remained strong and steadfast, full of the love she had for so many of us. At 96 years old she was as spunky as ever but equally as classy. Her heart and her mind never once failed her.
A cremation has taken place and Nana will take her rightful place back by Papa’s side in Meadowvale Cemetery.
Heaven has gained another angel and the songs will be sung again. Fly high Nana, fly high.
