Ofer Dagan, age 64 passed away suddenly at his home in Hillsburgh from a heart attack on Saturday January 19th, 2019.
Born in Haifa, Israel, Ofer completed his mandatory military service and finally felt free to pursue his dreams. He travelled to London, England to join the ever present music scene. After 6 months of wet English weather, he ventured to France. It was there that he began his career as a carpenter, working under a master craftsman who taught him all the skills in classical cabinetry. With Ofer's huge imagination and ability to see outside the box, Wood became yet another creative outlet. A business opportunity finally brought Ofer to Canada in the 1990s.
He was a true artist, and his brilliant imagination and creativity could be seen in his woodwork and heard through his music. He touched the lives of so many through his art but it was his calm energy,
sense of humour, philosophy, and love of life's simple pleasures that will be missed most.
Ofer loved playing and creating music with his band brothers, The Free Agents.
Jerry, Jimmy, Sal and Norma will miss him immensely, along with all of the other musicians and students that shared time with Ofer over the years.
He is a survived in Israel by son Stev Dagan (Rottam), daughters Lydian and Melody Dagan, granddaughter Gillie, sisters Smadar and Noga and all of his nieces and nephews, as well as Soul Brother, Amos and many other friends and family.
In Canada, he is survived by beloved wife Sue Veeck, stepson Kevin Veeck (Spenser), stepdaughter Amanda Howard, grandchildren Ellery and Malcolm, mother in law Jennifer Veeck, brother in law Richard Veeck (Stephanie), sister in law Deborah Hatt (Tim), sister in law Louise Veeck (partner Bill), and niece and nephew, Claire and Aidan.
Ofer will be deeply missed by all of his combined family & friends.
A celebration of life to be held at a time and date to be announced.
